With a Google Keyword Search, the NM team spotted an article with the same headline on a website — Dunning Kruger Times. The headline matches with the viral post, confirming that the league is planning to do so.

We did not find even a single credible news source corroborating the claim. However, scanning the website, we found out that it is a satirical website. The About Us section of the website clarifies that is is a website that publishes satirical articles.

Additionally, even the official website of the NFL has not carried any statements or press releases regarding the incident.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming five NFL teams intend to fire players if they kneel for the U.S. national anthem in the upcoming season, is false.
