Prince William believed Meghan Markle had an agenda from the early days of her relationship with Prince Harry, according to royal biographer Robert Lacey. The claim, made in the ITV documentary “Harry & William: What Went Wrong?,” is based on a source close to William.
Lacey, author of “Battle of Brothers,” stated that William felt this way about Meghan from the beginning. This sentiment is not new; Lacey’s book mentions William’s anger over Meghan’s alleged harsh treatment of staff, referring to her as “that bloody woman.”
The book details ongoing conflicts between William and Harry, suggesting that resolution seems unlikely. Lacey mentioned that William will have to “swallow his pride and smile” beside Meghan during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations next year. He also noted that William had accepted the difficult relationship but was particularly upset about Meghan’s treatment of his staff.
Additionally, William was reportedly displeased with Harry and Meghan’s secrecy surrounding their son Archie’s birth in May 2019, considering it a “prima donna” move. The couple’s decision to keep the birth private led to William and Kate meeting Archie only eight days later.
The documentary also includes allegations from Meghan insider Omid Scobie, claiming that William’s staff planted stories about Harry’s mental health following his comments about their strained relationship. Scobie, a vocal defender of Meghan, suggested that her readiness to work upon joining the royal family ruffled feathers, as she was reminded of the royal hierarchy and her place within it.
Despite these claims, no concrete evidence was provided to support the allegations of palace aides briefing against Harry. Scobie maintained that Meghan’s driven nature and previous professional success were at odds with her lower position in the royal hierarchy.
