On Sunday night, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever suffered a 36-point loss at the hands of the New York Liberty by a final score of 104-68. The Fever picked up their ninth loss of the season, the most in the WNBA.
Clark, the former Iowa Hawkeyes sensation, had arguably her worst performance as a professional. She scored only three points on 1 of 10 shooting while grabbing two rebounds and picking up five assists. Clark and Aliyah Boston left the game early due to injury.
After the loss, basketball fans had one major complaint about the Fever: coach Christie Sides’s performance. They took to social media to call for her firing.
“christie sides needs to be investigated”
“Fire Christie Sides, man. This is insane. She doesn’t know how to coach a talent like Caitlin Clark, nor anybody else on that team. And having your two stars still in when the team is down 25+ is insane. And now both seem hurt. FIRE HERRRR.”
“Sorry, but Christie Sides has to go. Now. Neither of Fever’s 2 main stars should have been playing once the Liberty were up by 20. Enough is enough. Gotta get a new coach in there during this brief break or they’ll destroy Clark and damage this great wave for the WNBA . Sigh.”
“I will forgive Chennedy Carter if they can just fire Christie Sides. And get Kristy Wallace and Victaria Saxton off that team.”
“Y’all really don’t understand how bad Christie Sides truly is. Liberty win. Easily.”
“I’m not even mad about the Indiana Fever getting blown out of this game. This was to be expected when a team plays 11 games in 20 days coast to coast. What I am mad about is that Christie Sides still has a job.”
Clark and the Fever will have a long break before playing the Washington Mystics on Friday, June 7.
