Princess of Wales to Miss Colonel’s Review Due to Chemotherapy
Royal officials confirmed that the Princess of Wales will not attend the Colonel’s Review on June 8 as she continues her chemotherapy treatment. In her absence, Lieutenant General James Bucknall will act as the inspecting officer.
King Charles III, also undergoing cancer treatment, will travel in a carriage with Queen Camilla for Trooping the Colour on June 15. He will conduct the review of soldiers from an Ascot Landau carriage, following medical advice.
The Princess, typically in charge of the salute as Colonel of the Irish Guards, will remain out of public duties until her doctors clear her return. Her absence follows confusion in March when the Army prematurely announced her attendance.
King Charles, who previously inspected troops on horseback, will adapt his role based on health recommendations. Despite the ongoing cancer treatment, Buckingham Palace continues to plan future royal engagements, adjusting as needed for the King’s health.
Trooping the Colour will feature the royal family on Buckingham Palace’s balcony after the parade, maintaining a tradition of over 260 years.
