Two of WNBA’s most beloved rookies recently went head-to-head as Kate Martin and the Las Vegas Aces welcomed Nika Muhl and the Seattle Storm to Sin City on Wednesday.

As seen on the post of X user Maia, the two rookies caused online buzz during their matchup after Martin entered the game in the fourth quarter and gave Muhl a friendly tap, showing respect to her fellow first-year draftee.

Martin and Muhl, who were both stars from their NCAA days, have been relatively quiet on the court since being drafted in the second round. They’re competing for minutes with some of the best players in the league, including Jackie Young, Kelsey Plum, Jewell Loyd, and Skylar Diggins-Smith.

Both players haven’t received the attention that fellow rookies Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have this season, but they also haven’t received as much backlash. They are two players that fans are looking forward to seeing on the court, whether or not they’re playing limited minutes.

Martin is currently averaging 4.2 points and 2.6 rebounds on 18 minutes of game action. She had a quality role off the bench, which is something that Muhl is working toward. The rookie out of UConn has so far posted 0.1 assists and 0.6 rebounds in 2.1 minutes of play.
