CP recently shared a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) comparing the number of attendees at the first game between the NBA finalists Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics to the WNBA game between the Indiana Fever and the Washington Mystics.
Looking at the Celtics’ history, one can imagine the massive fan following the franchise has gained over the years. On the other hand, there is Mavs star Luka Doncic, whose fanbase is also increasing. However, they attracted only 19,156 fans at the TD Garden, whereas 20,333 fans turned up at the Capital One Arena to get a glimpse of the Fever rookie, which shows the fan base Clark has built and the impact she has on them.
For the past 17 years, no such number of attendants has been recorded in a WNBA game. With her skills and mindset, Clark keeps impressing everyone.
Caitlin Clark Reacts to NBA Finals
A night before her game against the Mystics, while most hoop lovers were busy watching the NBA Finals Game 1, Caitlin Clark had a more important game to watch.
The 22-year-old said, “To be honest, I had the Women’s College Softball World Series on instead.” She quickly added, “It was a little bit better of a game going on. Then I flipped back to the NBA. I was flipping back and forth.”
She preferred the game over the Finals between Texas and Oklahoma, who were fighting for the 2024 Women’s College World Series.
Stating the reason to support the former team, Clark said, “There’s a girl who pitches for Texas – she’s a freshman – who actually lived a couple of streets over from me growing up. So, I was rooting for the Texas Longhorns. I think that’s a great display of women’s sports and where it’s going. I’ve always been a fan of women’s softball and I support women’s sports across the board, so I was more so watching that.”
Unfortunately for Clark, however, the game ended in Oklahoma’s favor, but she didn’t fail to succeed in her game.
