Everyone is still getting over their Saturday night hangover. Ryan Garcia is posting dance videos to Instagram, fans are still in disbelief, and Devin Haney is inconsolable following a severe loss.
Except for a few tweets right after fight night, Haney has remained mostly silent. However, Haney made a statement late Wednesday night, and everyone was buzzing. Devin Haney, who lost by a decision to Garcia last week after losing three pounds, demanded a “fair” rematch with the American.
On Saturday, April 20, in Brooklyn, Garcia defeated Haney by majority decision after dropping him three times. Although Haney lost his first fight as a professional, Garcia could not capture the WBC super-lightweight title.
Ryan Garcia Defeats Devin Haney
On Saturday night, Ryan Garcia scored three knockdowns of Devin Haney to hand the WBC super lightweight champion his first professional loss in a spectacular shock. This capped one of the most bizarre build-ups to a significant bout in recent memory.

Starting as a 6-1 underdog, Garcia scored majority decisions by outlasting Haney with scores of 115-109, 114-110, and 112-112 in the seventh, tenth, and eleventh rounds.
Because of his unsuccessful weigh-in, 25-year-old Garcia was not eligible to win the title, while 25-year-old Haney has claimed that “King Ryan’s” excess weight helped him perform better.
In the statement, Haney demands a rematch and suggests that Garcia’s three pounds of extra weight contributed to the fight’s result.
Michael Benson posed on X, stating.
“Fair” is the crucial word from Haney. He doesn’t think Garcia prevailed by a clear-cut margin. That’s why he wants to ensure that a rematch would not involve something similar.
The issue is that a rematch is not guaranteed, and Haney is not the reason for this.
