Taylor Swift is renowned for turning her romantic struggles into hit songs, and her latest single, “Fortnight,” is no exception. The video, which features actors Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles, has captivated her fans since its release on YouTube.

“Fortnight” is the lead single from her new album, *The Tortured Poets Department*, Swift’s first since her breakup with British actor Joe Alwyn. Many believe Alwyn is the target of songs like “So Long, London.” The album title playfully mocks a WhatsApp group Alwyn shares with actors Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott called “Tortured Man Club.”

Matty Healy, frontman of The 1975, who briefly dated Swift, is also thought to be referenced in the track “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.”

Swift describes the album as reflecting “events, opinions, and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time.” In the “Fortnight” video, Swift appears in an asylum, hinting at the toll of her love life. She takes a pill labeled “Forget him” and is freed, with Hawke and Charles playing scientists in scenes reminiscent of *Frankenstein*.

To promote the video, Swift posted 14 short clips of her life over the past two weeks on YouTube Shorts, encouraging fans to join her #ForAFortnight challenge.
