Prince George, second in line to the throne, has friends with even grander homes. Recently, the 10-year-old royal cheered on Aston Villa with his friend Ralph Tollemache, 12, who lives on a 400-acre estate with a drawbridge.

Ralph, King Charles’ godson, resides at Helmingham Hall in Suffolk, a medieval manor with a moat and working drawbridges, far grander than George’s Adelaide Cottage home. The Tollemache family has lived at Helmingham Hall for centuries, and Ralph’s parents, Edward and Sophie, are part of King Charles’ inner circle.

Helmingham Hall, dating back to 1480, has hosted the Royal Family, including Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. Its gardens are open to the public from May to September, though the house itself remains private.

In contrast, Prince George’s home, Adelaide Cottage, is a modest four-bedroom house in Windsor. Prince William and Kate Middleton moved there in 2022 for a quieter life, leaving behind their 20-room Kensington Palace apartment. The family enjoys the picturesque, pink-hued cottage with its close proximity to the children’s school, Lambrook School.
