Prince William showcased his doting father side when he spoke about his nine-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte’s exam worries to a young fan named Taylor at a D-Day event in Portsmouth. When asked by the girl where Princess Charlotte was, Prince William knelt down and explained, “Charlotte’s at school, Charlotte’s got exams,” adding that she wasn’t looking forward to them that morning. He crossed his fingers, hoping everything went well for her.

During the interaction, Prince William also praised Taylor for her curtsy, saying “Bravo” and clapping, and asked if she enjoyed the Red Arrows flypast.

At the same event, Prince William provided an update on the Princess of Wales’ condition, mentioning she “would have loved” to attend but was unable due to ongoing cancer treatment. He shared that he had been speaking with women who worked as codebreakers at Bletchley Park, alongside Kate’s grandmother, Valerie Middleton. Prince William highlighted Valerie’s secretive war efforts, which significantly contributed to the Allied victory in World War II.

Kate’s grandmother, Valerie, and her twin sister Mary, worked in Hut 16 at Bletchley Park, intercepting crucial messages, including the Japanese surrender, making them among the first to know the war was over.

In 2016 and 2019, Kate paid tribute to her grandmother’s legacy, acknowledging the crucial role of Bletchley Park’s men and women during the war and continuing to honor her memory through various gestures and public acknowledgments.
