In Week 1, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and offseason acquisition Julio Jones delivered a highlight reel moment late in the second quarter that captivated the football world.

With less than a minute left in the second quarter, Brady connected with the future Hall of Famer for a stunning 48-yard pass, setting up Ryan Succop’s 47-yard field goal. This was one of Jones’ three catches, contributing to his total of 69 receiving yards for the day.

Brady, at 45, showed no signs of aging with that throw. However, a sideline camera, featured on Paramount Plus’ “Inside the NFL,” captured Brady admitting to Jones that he no longer has “that young arm like I used to.”

After spending over four months as a free agent, Jones joined the Buccaneers in July with hopes of winning a Super Bowl.

Despite his age, Brady has continued to defy expectations, playing at an MVP-caliber level, thanks to a rigorous workout regime and a famously strict diet. The seven-time Super Bowl champion is the oldest starting quarterback in NFL history.

George Blanda holds the record as the oldest player in professional football, having played until 48. His career spanned from the Chicago Bears in 1949 to the Oakland Raiders in 1975.

Brady initially retired after the Buccaneers’ Divisional Round loss to the Los Angeles Rams last year but reversed his decision 40 days later. While Brady appears capable of playing beyond 2022, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported over the weekend that this is expected to be TB12’s final season.

Following a dominant Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys, Brady and the Buccaneers aim to advance to 2-0 as they face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday afternoon.
