The Kansas City Chiefs appear to have made a decision regarding Harrison Butker following his recent comments.

The three-time Super Bowl-winning kicker has faced intense scrutiny since his speech at Benedictine College’s commencement ceremony, which some have deemed controversial and divisive.

In his speech, Butker criticized Pride Month, labeling it a sin, spoke against birth control, and made remarks about the transgender community. However, his comments on women and employment sparked the most backlash.

In response, the NFL issued a statement distancing itself from Butker, and a petition has been circulating calling for his removal from the team. Despite the controversy, the Chiefs are standing by their player, even if they may not share his views.

“I didn’t think I need to,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told reporters when asked if he had spoken to Butker about his comments (H/T CBS Sports). “We’re a microcosm of life. … We all respect each other’s opinions. We all have a voice.”
