Piers Morgan ‘confronts’ Meghan Markle, she is not only greedy but also a “Pinocchio Princess”

Former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan has downplayed the record number of Ofcom complaints he received during his time on the show. In March, Morgan stormed out of the studio after a heated on-air argument about Meghan Markle with weatherman Alex Beresford. This incident eventually led to his resignation from the ITV show and prompted thousands of complaints to Ofcom.

Despite the backlash, Morgan, 56, highlighted that none of the Government-related complaints against him were upheld. He confidently suggested that the complaints regarding his remarks about Meghan Markle, whom he referred to as “Princess Pinocchio,” would also not be upheld.

Over 54,453 complaints were lodged with Ofcom after Morgan expressed disbelief in the Duchess of Sussex’s claims of feeling suicidal during her interview with Oprah Winfrey. This incident became the most complained-about moment ever, surpassing Diversity’s Black Lives Matter performance on Britain’s Got Talent.

In addition to this record-breaking incident, Morgan secured the sixth, seventh, and tenth places on the list of most complained-about moments, following his interviews with Helen Whateley MP and Victoria Atkin MP.

Morgan took to Twitter to share an article that highlighted his four spots in the top 10 most complained-about moments, accompanied by an emoji wearing sunglasses. He also tweeted a BBC article about the complaints, noting that Ofcom had seen “unprecedented” numbers of complaints, with a significant portion attributed to him.

In response to the complaints, Morgan tweeted, “What this doesn’t say is that NONE of the Govt-related complaints against me were upheld, and I don’t expect the complaints relating to Princess Pinocchio to be either. How can @Ofcom possibly conclude I must believe a proven liar…?”

Ofcom confirmed in their report that many of the cases did not warrant an investigation. A spokesperson added, “We’re a nation of TV lovers, and it’s kept us entertained and informed like never before during lockdown. From time to time, viewers see things that trouble them, and that’s where we come in.”
