Prince Harry and Meghan to face new lawsuit for spreading false information about Princess Kate

Prince Harry Urged to Condemn Online Abuse Targeting Princess Kate Amid Cancer Battle

Prince Harry should speak out against the online abuse and conspiracies directed at Princess Kate during her cancer battle, as remaining silent could harm his and Meghan Markle’s reputation, according to Newsweek’s The Royal Report podcast.

Princess Kate Cancer Announcement

Despite their previous criticism of the royal family for not defending Meghan from similar harassment, Harry and Meghan have not addressed the attacks on Kate by their fans. When Kate announced her cancer diagnosis in March, the couple expressed their support, wishing her health and privacy. However, royal correspondent Jack Royston noted that failing to denounce misinformation about Kate’s condition could appear hypocritical given their advocacy for online safety.

Royston emphasized that while Harry and Meghan aren’t responsible for their fans’ actions, not addressing the issue contradicts their positions, especially Harry’s role in the Aspen Institute’s Commission on Information Disorder. Speaking out would also protect them from criticism in the British press. Royston pointed out that Harry has criticized his family for their silence, suggesting that his own inaction now could be damaging.

Meghan has previously spoken about the severe online abuse she faced, making their silence on Kate’s situation notable. Royston suggested that a public statement denouncing the conspiracy theories could mitigate reputational damage and demonstrate their commitment to combating misinformation.

Royston also mentioned that Harry, given his role as a commissioner on information disorder, should “be the bigger person” and speak out in support of Kate, reinforcing his stance against misinformation. A simple statement in an interview supporting Kate’s recovery and condemning the falsehoods would clarify their position and protect their public image.
