In a candid interview with Bryony Gordon from The Telegraph, Prince Harry, amidst the release of his memoir “Spare,” revealed his desire to “fix things” within his family, possibly alluding to the tensions with the Royal Family.

Now residing in California, Harry expressed a sense of responsibility towards his niece and nephews, George, Charlotte, and Louis, despite Prince Charles making it clear that they are not his direct responsibility.

Reflecting on his familial role, Harry shared, “Within my family, if it’s not us, it’s going to be someone else. And though William and I have talked about it once or twice, and he has made it very clear to me that his kids are not my responsibility, I still feel a responsibility knowing that out of those three children, at least one will end up like me, the spare.”

During the extensive conversation from his Montecito home, Harry also discussed his relationship with the press and its impact on the Royal Family, which he feels compelled to “save from themselves.”

Despite anticipating criticism for his views, Harry described it as his “life’s mission” to address what he perceives as injustices that led his family to leave the UK. He attributed part of this to the British press, drawing parallels to the media scrutiny surrounding his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, and former girlfriend Caroline Flack, who tragically took her own life.

Harry recounted a breaking point when he found Meghan in tears while caring for their son Archie, triggered by negative media coverage that, he believes, could have fatal consequences if she read them.

This interview comes in the wake of King Charles, Prince William, and Kate, the Princess of Wales, resuming public engagements following the publication of Harry’s memoir, which delves deeply into his emotions regarding them and Camilla, the Queen Consort.

Both Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace have refrained from commenting on the 416-page book, which has caused a significant shift in public perception. According to a recent YouGov poll, Harry’s popularity has plummeted, with 68% of adults expressing a negative opinion, marking his lowest net favorability rating of minus 44.

As the controversy continues to unfold, Harry remains steadfast in his mission to navigate his family’s complex dynamics while seeking to redefine his role within and outside the monarchy.
