Sophie Wessex Furious Over ‘Blatantly Untrue’ Claims She Shunned Meghan Markle
Sophie Wessex is reportedly angry over suggestions in Omid Scobie’s book that she failed to support Meghan Markle during her time in the royal family.
Sources close to the Duchess of Edinburgh reveal that Sophie and Meghan “talked for hours” at Sophie’s Surrey home. Friends of Sophie say she found Meghan “likeable and engaging” and went out of her way to offer support and advice during Meghan’s early days as a royal.
“It was just the two of them, and they talked for hours,” a source told The Sun. Sophie, who has experience transitioning from commoner to royal, offered Meghan advice and support, emphasizing that Meghan could reach out anytime.
Sophie’s allies strongly deny the claims in Scobie’s book, calling them “blatantly untrue.” They refute the suggestion that Sophie shunned Meghan, citing their long conversations and Sophie’s genuine effort to help.
Scobie’s book also accused Sophie and Prince Edward of being “casually bigoted” following comments made after Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey. When asked about the interview, Sophie and Edward responded dismissively, leading Scobie to criticize their remarks as “tin-eared” and potentially bigoted.
Sophie’s friends insist these accusations are unfounded and misrepresent her true relationship with Meghan.
