BET+ is gearing up for a nostalgic ride with the announcement of the premiere date for its upcoming original film, “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead” remake. After having a theater run, the streamer is set to debut on May 16, the film stars Simone Joy Jones as lead Tanya Crandell with Wade Allain-Marcus at the helm as director.

The reimagined version of the iconic 90s film promises to bring a fresh perspective to the beloved story. Tanya Crandell, played by Jones, finds her summer plans derailed when her mother, portrayed by Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams, embarks on a wellness retreat in Thailand. Left in charge of her siblings and an elderly babysitter, chaos ensues when the babysitter unexpectedly passes away, leaving Tanya and her siblings to fend for themselves.

In a twist of fate, Tanya enters the workforce and crosses paths with the confident and ambitious Rose, played by Nicole Richie. What was meant to be a carefree summer turns into a journey of self-discovery as Tanya navigates the challenges of balancing work, family responsibilities, and a budding romance.
