Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain’s psychological thriller, “Mothers’ Instinct,” is now available for digital purchase and rental in the UK, marking the directorial debut of Benoît Delhomme, known for his cinematography work on acclaimed films like “The Theory of Everything” and “Lawless.” Set in the 1960s, the movie delves into the paranoid dynamics between neighbors Céline and Alice after a tragic incident involving one of their children.

Currently, purchasing “Mothers’ Instinct” on Amazon Prime costs £19.99, while renting it is priced at £15.99.

The film received mixed reviews upon its theatrical release in March, earning a 55% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian critiqued the film’s descent into absurdity in its final act, overshadowing its earlier moments of intriguing dysfunction and ambiguity.

Empire Magazine, however, offered a more favorable four-star review, praising Hathaway’s exceptional performance as a mother grappling with loss and reintegration into society, alongside Chastain’s portrayal of a character wrestling with guilt and anxiety.

In contrast, Hathaway’s recent project “The Idea of You” premiered to critical acclaim, boasting a perfect 100% rating on review aggregator sites.
