Reports suggest that Lady Gaga won’t be paying the $500,000 reward she offered for the safe return of her French bulldogs after a dognapping incident in 2021.

Los Angeles County Judge Holly J. Fujie ruled on October 2 that Jennifer McBride, one of the suspects involved in the incident, was “not entitled” to the reward due to having “unclean hands.” This ruling comes as McBride had admitted to receiving the stolen bulldogs, making her ineligible for the reward.

The court documents, obtained by CNN, reveal that Judge Fujie deemed McBride’s complaint legally insufficient because of her involvement in the theft. McBride had filed a lawsuit in 2022 against Lady Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, seeking $1.5 million in damages, alleging breach of contract. However, the judge’s ruling dismissed McBride’s claims.

McBride had previously been charged with accessory after the fact and receiving stolen property, with the former charge being dismissed as part of her plea deal. She ultimately pled guilty to receiving stolen property and received a two-year probation sentence.

The dognapping incident occurred on February 25, 2021, when Lady Gaga’s dog walker, Ryan Fischer, was shot while walking her three French bulldogs. Two of the dogs were taken, while Fischer survived the attack. McBride later turned in the dogs, claiming she found them tied to a pole, and inquired about the reward money. She was arrested after investigators discovered her relationship with Harold White, the father of one of Fischer’s assailants.
