Prince William has maintained a calm demeanor in response to Prince Harry’s recent comments regarding the future of William’s children. In an interview with Bryony Gordon from the Telegraph, Prince Harry discussed his concerns for his niece and nephews, George, Charlotte, and Louis, suggesting that he feels a responsibility to prevent them from experiencing what he did as the “spare” in the royal family.

Prince Harry, who has relocated to California and released his memoir “Spare,” expressed his belief that he could “fix” things for the younger generation of royals. However, he acknowledged that Prince William has made it clear that his children are not Harry’s responsibility. “As I know full well, within my family, if it’s not us, it’s going to be someone else,” Harry said. “And though William and I have talked about it once or twice, and he has made it very clear to me that his kids are not my responsibility, I still feel a responsibility knowing that out of those three children, at least one will end up like me, the spare.”

Despite these remarks, Prince William has chosen not to engage publicly with his brother’s assertions. Instead, he continues to focus on his royal duties and his immediate family. This measured response is indicative of William’s approach to the ongoing tensions within the royal family.

In his interview, Harry elaborated on his feelings towards the British press and their impact on the royal family, which he believes he is trying to “save from themselves.” He cited the press as a major factor in his family’s decision to leave the UK, drawing parallels to the tragic death of his mother, Princess Diana, and the suicide of TV presenter Caroline Flack.

Harry recounted a particularly distressing moment when he found his wife, Meghan Markle, in tears over media coverage. He claimed that the relentless scrutiny could have had deadly consequences for Meghan, stating, “My wife would be dead if she read the newspaper stories about them.”

The royal family has largely refrained from commenting on Harry’s memoir and his recent interviews. Both Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace have maintained their silence regarding the book’s content, which delves deeply into Harry’s personal grievances and his views on family dynamics.

The publication of “Spare” has notably impacted Prince Harry’s public image. A YouGov poll revealed that his popularity has declined, with 68% of 1,691 adults polled expressing a negative opinion of him, resulting in his lowest ever net favorability rating of minus 44.

As Prince William continues to navigate his public duties alongside his wife, Kate Middleton, he appears to be taking a steady and composed approach in response to his brother’s candid revelations. This calm stance underscores his commitment to his role and the well-being of his family amidst ongoing challenges.
