The Sky were defeated 89-80 by the Atlanta Dream as their record continues to plummet below .500

Angel Reese sends a strong message to her Chicago Sky teammates after another loss

Angel Reese‘s 13 points and 13 rebounds could not stop the Chicago Sky slumping to another loss as their record collapses to .400, leaving them just two games ahead of the Indiana Fever and seven games behind the Connecticut Sun in the Eastern Conference.

The Sky were down 72-59 heading into the final quarter, where they mounted a strong rally to close within three points, until the Dream managed to pull away again to win by nine points as Reese‘s side lost their fifth game in their last seven.

It left the overall sixth pick in the draft frustrated as the 2023 NCAA national championship winner finds herself in an usual situation in a team with a negative record, although she did attempt to give a strong message to rally them.

“Yeah, it’s tough,” Reese said of the Sky‘s form. “It’s tough because I hate losing, and I try to go out there every night and try to be as consistent as I can.

“I think having consistency one through 12 is important from the jump ball to the end. It’s not the coaches or the other team, it’s us.”

The Sky’s poor run of form

As mentioned above, that’s now a .400 record for the season with five losses out of seven as they fall into the clutches of Caitlin Clark‘s Indiana Fever whilst slipping further and further away from a shot at the postseason.

They have some rest days now to try to regroup and figure out what’s going on and how to fix it before they head to the Eastern Conference leaders, the Connecticut Sun, on Wednesday, June 12.

But they need to sort it and fast because their recent record, outlined below, is not very good at all and could see them fall to second-last if it goes on for much longer.

May 25: Connecticut Sun 86-82 Sky.
May 28: Seattle Storm 77-68 Sky.
May 30: Sky 83-73 Los Angeles Sparks.
June 1: Indiana Fever 71-70 Sky.
June 4: New York Liberty 88-75 Sky.
June 6: Sky 79-71 Washington Mystics.
June 8: Atlanta Dream 89-80 Sky.
