Caitlin Clark showed her prowess on both offense and defense to score five points in just 14 seconds during the Indiana Fever’s WNBA win over the Washington Mystics.

On Wednesday night, Clark starred as the Fever secured an 88-81 victory against the Mystics at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The first-overall pick excelled and particularly wowed the fans late in the second quarter.

With just over three minutes remaining in the first half, Clark drained a 3-pointer from 29 feet, taking aim from well beyond the perimeter. Moments later on defense, the 22-year-old crept behind Karlie Samuelson and tipped away a pass.

The Fever rookie ran down the floor and laid it in for another basket. It meant she scored five points in 14 seconds, electrifying the crowd and her team while highlighting her value on both ends of the floor.

Clark enjoyed a fine performance. She shot 50 percent from the floor – including 2-of-6 from deep – en route to 18 points, tallying 12 rebounds and six assists as well as four assists.

Clark was one of four Fever players to score in double figures against Washington. Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell led the team in scoring, posting 22 points each while NaLyssa Smith added 11 points as Indiana had four players in double-digits.

The Fever have made a swift recovery after a poor start to the season. Having won just one of their opening nine games, Indiana sit fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 6-10 record with Clark starring.

Clark made a name for herself during a record-breaking spell at Iowa, leading the Hawkeyes to back-to-back National Championship appearances while departing college as the all-time leading scorer in NCAA history. She was then named the pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, continuing her remarkable ascent.

Clark has found her feet and is impressing as a rookie for the Fever. She is averaging 16.1 points, 6.2 assists, and 5.1 rebounds this season, with her finest outing to date coming when she tallied 30 points – in which she tied the rookie record with seven 3-pointers – in a tight win over the Mystics earlier this month.

The 6-10 Fever takes on the 6-6 Atlanta Dream in their next WNBA contest on Friday, June 22.
