Erica Wheeler’s reaction might have been better than the move
It’s only Day 2 of Indiana Fever training camp, but Caitlin Clark still hasn’t met her match in the WNBA. Anybody who still doubts the NCAA all-time leading scorer‘s ability to get to her spots at the professional level should watch this ankle-breaking video, and consider her teammate Erica Wheeler’s viral reaction.
Caitlin Clark’s unstoppable move at Fever training camp
Clark’s signature stepback shot is clearly translating to the next level. Although she was matched up with a male practice defender, she proceeded to make him look silly.
“Bye bye, boy!” Wheeler screamed, hyping up the Fever’s No. 1 overall draft pick out of Iowa.
“We all need a teammate like Erica,” said one popular response to the video on Twitter/X of the Indiana guard who averaged 9.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game last season.
WNBA legends like Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi have been on record tempering expectations for the phenomenal Clark as she enters the professional game. While their comments about her physicality and defense remain untested, the former Hawkeye’s ability to create offense seems unquestionable as new videos come out by the day.

Meanwhile, other WNBA rookies are also settling in quickly to training camp. Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso are finding their chemistry for the Chicago Sky, with Reese stating after her first practice: “Actually I wasn’t as bad as I thought I was gonna be. I thought it was gonna be crazy.”
With preseason games less than a week away, Clark looks poised to lead the new generation of WNBA players into a new era for the league, like she did with college basketball. Prayers up to whoever has to guard her.
