Connecticut Suns boo their own player after latest WNBA attack on Caitlin Clark

The debate around the protection needed by Caitlin Clark in 2024’s WNBA season as she continues to be targeted rages on and now it seems as though fans are finally fed up as the Connecticut Sun‘s fans boo their own player.

The incident came when DiJonai Carrington fouled the Indiana Fever‘s guard as she received a pass from her teammate and tried to turn into the court to move to the basket, but Carrington was late to get to her and ran into her, committing a foul.

It was a decision that the Sun‘s player was clearly not a fan of as she alleged Clark exaggerated the foul, before she began to mock her and make gestures at the 22-year-old rookie. That led to the packed crowd showing Carrington what they thought of her as they booed her. They booed their own player.

It’s the latest, and perhaps most significant, reaction to the amount of fouls being committed against Clark as her peers view physicality as the best way to stop her talent, or they’re simply bitter about the celebrity status she’s enjoying at the moment.

Previously, Chennedy Carter of the Chicago Sky bizarrely knocked her to the floor in an off-ball incident that led to the NBA’s Draymond Green to call for the Fever to finally start protecting their young player with an enforcer.

It’s particularly strange because Clark, who does have the ability to trash talk, has been quite modest and humble through her debut season ensuring that she is not controversial in the media or on the court, but the rest of the league doesn’t seem to like her.

Who do the Fever play next?

The Fever‘s next game is on Friday, June 13 when they welcome the Atlanta Dream to the Gainbridge FieldHouse at 19:00 ET/16:00 PT.

The 3-9 Fever will look to bounce back from their 89-72 loss to the Suns against the .556 Dream, who are third in the Eastern Conference
