Aliyah Boston is one of the best young forwards in the WNBA right now.
The former South Carolina Gamecock was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft, then won the 2023 WNBA Rookie of the Year Award with the Indiana Fever.
That being said, Boston has struggled to start the 2024 WNBA season. After averaging 14.5 points per game last season, Boston has just 10.1 points per game this year.
Perhaps this is an unexpected byproduct of Caitlin Clark’s impact on the Fever offense. But many fans believe that Boston has regressed from last season; or is at least experiencing a sophomore slump.

In fact, one WNBA fan took Boston’s poor play as an opportunity to compare her to one of the NBA’s biggest ever busts.
An X user compared the top 20 current WNBA players to NBA players. And Boston’s comparison was former Los Angeles Lakers forward Andrew Bynum.
Fans found Boston’s Bynum comparison funny.
“lmfaoaoao andrew bynum is funny asl,” one X user wrote in response.
“Lmaoo it was Bynum or Roy Hibbert and I was trying to be respectful,” the original poster responded.
Clearly Boston has something to prove to these fans.
