Las Vegas Aces guard Alysha Clark has taken aim at recent comments by Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark, who suggested the WNBA is “not as loud as the NBA.”

Clark, a veteran with a championship pedigree, strongly disagrees with this assessment. She emphasizes that the WNBA is a highly competitive league overflowing with experienced and talented players.

“Honestly, that’s just background noise to me,” Clark said. “This is what we do for a living. It doesn’t matter who you are or how fresh you are out of college, the veterans will be coming for you because we’re here to make one thing clear: this is a grown woman’s league.”

Clark, a two-time WNBA champion at 32 years old, is a proven force on the court and one of the league’s leading scorers. Known for her physical and aggressive style of play, she’s been a fixture in the WNBA since 2016.

Clark’s comments come in response to 22-year-old Caitlin Clark, who was drafted first overall by the Indiana Fever in 2021.  While Clark had a solid rookie season averaging 13.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, she’s also faced criticism for her perceived lack of experience and intensity.  Some NBA fans have even compared her to Trae Young, the Atlanta Hawks rookie who faced similar critiques for his playing style.

Unfazed by these comparisons, Clark remains focused on her own improvement. “What other people think doesn’t matter to me,” she said. “I’m laser-focused on becoming the best player I can possibly be.”

Clark’s strong stance has resonated with many WNBA players and fans.

“Alysha is spitting fire,” said Swin Cash, a four-time WNBA champion. “This league is cutthroat, and there’s no room for complacency.”

“Caitlin Clark is undeniably talented, but she has a lot to learn,” Lisa Leslie, a three-time WNBA champion, offered. “Alysha Clark and the rest of the veterans will be there to guide her development.”

Clark’s story serves as a powerful reminder: the WNBA is a demanding league that separates the best from the rest. Players require exceptional talent, athleticism, and mental fortitude to thrive.

Clark embodies these qualities perfectly. A standout player and a vocal leader for the Las Vegas Aces, she serves as an inspiration to young athletes yearning to compete in the WNBA.
