Sheryl Swoopes and Caitlin Clark

WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes has taken some heat for her comments on former Iowa Hawkeyes guard Caitlin Clark this year.
Swoopes suggested that Clark’s NCAA all-time leading scoring record wasn’t legitimate, since the Iowa star played an extra year due to COVID. Of course, that’s not true – Clark played just four seasons at Iowa.
This week, Swoopes, who serves as a TV reporter for the WNBA, interviewed Clark following her first preseason game.
It was a classy moment.
“Your first WNBA game, was it everything you expected it to be?” Swoopes asked.
Clark was smiling throughout the interview.
When Swoopes was done, she added: “Thanks, good luck the rest of the season.”
Clearly, if there was any real “beef” between these two, it’s since been squashed.
And that’s good to see.
Clark doesn’t need to deal with any drama heading into her rookie WNBA season and Swoopes is one of the best players in league history.
