Angel Reese will be taking her talents to Windy City following the 2024 WNBA Draft.
In a decision that sent ripples through the basketball world, Angel Reese, the standout forward from LSU, has opted to forego another season with the Tigers in favor of declaring for the WNBA draft. With a powerful and heartfelt response, Reese has shed light on the factors behind her choice, offering insight into her aspirations and dreams for the future.
An emotional Reese walked off stage after being drafted by the Chicago Sky with the seventh pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft and was greeted by LSU coach Kim Mulkey.
Angel Reese on why she chose to go to the #WNBA instead of staying at LSU:

The 6-foot-3 forward will join the Sky alongside No. 3 overall pick and former South Carolina standout Kamilla Cardoso, who was part of the physical SEC championship game against LSU just last month.
South Carolina ended up taking a 79-72 win before that would win the ultimate prize in the 2024 March Madness final against Caitlin Clark’s Iowa.
Angel Reese Has The Opportunity To Turn The Chicago Sky Franchise Around
The Chicago Sky finished under .500 last year with an 18-22 season and got dismantled by eventual champions Las Vegas Aces in the playoffs. The Ski lost both games by 20+.
Angel Reese has a chance to return the Sky to their glory days as they won the WNBA Finals in 2021. Reese and Kamilla Cardoso have that “it” factor that makes any team fear playing them night in and night out.
Reese’s decision marks a significant turning point in her basketball journey. After a standout season with LSU, where she showcased her exceptional talent and leadership on the court, many anticipated that she would return for another year to further hone her skills and pursue collegiate success. However, Reese had other plans, ones that extend beyond the confines of the college game.
In a statement that reverberated across social media platforms, Reese articulated her reasons for choosing the professional route. Central to her decision was a desire to challenge herself at the highest level of competition, to test her abilities against the best players in the world. For Reese, the WNBA represents the pinnacle of women’s basketball, a stage where she can elevate her game and leave an indelible mark on the sport.
