A new bombshell book about the Beckhams sheds light into their strained relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Meghan Markle’s friendship with Victoria Beckham started withering all the way back in 2017 over leaks to the press, a royal author has claimed.
A new book about the Beckham family promises to bring new revelations about the world-famous couple into the spotlight and one of them is allegedly the breakdown of their relationship with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The House of Beckham by Tom Bower – out tomorrow (June 20) – claims that when Meghan met David Beckham’s wife, they initially became good friends, with the Spice Girl even offering beauty advice to Meghan, who was then the duke’s fiance.
But according to Mr Bower, a report by the Sun about their “growing friendship” was enough to cause the first cracks in their relationship, as Meghan was allegedly “furious” over the article amid the UK media’s ongoing probing into her life.
The report claimed: “And their [Meghan and Victoria’s] love of pricey facials and glamorous blow-dries has become the foundation for a growing friendship.”
Harry and Meghan are said to have initially blamed Victoria for the leaks, with Harry allegedly making a tense phone call to David, who, after speaking to his wife, furiously denied the claims.
“In the end, the blame landed on a beautician,” reports the Independent, which has serialised parts of the new book.
However, according to Mr Bower, the incident proved to be only the beginning of the couple’s rift.
The Beckhams ended up attending the Sussexes’s wedding in 2018, however their relationship is said to be “frostier than ever” now.
