Caitlin Clark has become so synonymous with breaking records that every time she steps onto the hardboard, statisticians frantically start searching for even more records for her to break. The 22-year-old basketball sensation did just that with her latest 33-point performance against Minnesota.

Caitlin Clark has now surpassed Lynette Woodard’s 3,649-point mark in women’s college basketball. But within 24 hours of the victory, the Iowa star guard went on to break many hearts with a massive statement.

Caitlin Clark has declared for the 2024 WNBA Draft

The college basketball sensation, Caitlin Clark, who received praise from many celebrities for her record-breaking scores, has decided to take a new step in her professional career.


With her hard work, the Iowa Hawkeyes point guard broke the record of Kelsey Plum to become the leading scorer in the women’s college basketball scene, acquiring 3,650 career points to her name per SI. Following in the footsteps of the 2-time WNBA Champion, Clark has now officially declared for the 2024 WNBA Draft.

The 2023 Naismith College Player of the Year wrote in a post on social media, “While this season is far from over and we have a lot more goals to achieve, it will be my last one at Iowa. I am excited to be entering the 2024 WNBA Draft.” Clark also expressed her gratitude towards her teammates, coaching staff, trainers, family and fans for their support.

Basketball fans say “Big mistake” to Caitlin Clark’s WNBA decision

College basketball has grabbed a lot of attention in a couple of days from the NBA community and Clark’s decision was no different. Caitlin Clark made a bold move by announcing the end of her days as an Iowa star. Some NBA fans are happy with the decision, while many are not. Here are a few of the comments of the fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) after Clark’s decision:

A fan commented that she is making a mistake, “Big mistake. Could shatter all NCAA records that would never get touched and make even more in endorsements/NIL”

Someone commented that perhaps Clark does not know she will be making less money in WNBA, “Does she realize she makes more money in college then wnba”

Another comment read, “The only human on the planet that can make the WNBA relevant with all due respect,” supporting Clark’s decision.

 

Another fan seconding the thought added, “WNBA simply cannot fumble this opportunity. She’s the type of player to take the league to profitable operations.”

Caitlin Clark has often been compared with Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry for their similar style of playing. It won’t be a surprise if we see the duo in another special challenge like the one Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu had this year during the NBA All-Star weekend.
