Steph Curry seized the chance to outshine 22-year-old forward Tari Eason and the Houston Rockets on Thursday night.
Despite the Rockets’ recent surge, which had threatened the Golden State Warriors’ position in the NBA play-in tournament, the Warriors secured a convincing 133–110 victory at the Toyota Center.
As the game neared its end, Curry sat on the bench with three water bottles balanced on three of his fingers, reminiscent of a scene from the iconic 1979 movie “The Warriors,” in which the antagonist Luther famously taunts, “Warriors … come out to play!”

Curry’s playful moment on the bench was undoubtedly a response to Eason wearing a T-shirt to the game featuring Luther’s famous phrase from “The Warriors.” Eason had previously gained attention in March for posting “Warriors, come out to play!” on Instagram when the Rockets were closing in on the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference standings.
Following Thursday’s loss, the Rockets now stand at 38–38, trailing the Warriors (42–34) by four games for the final play-in tournament spot.
Unfortunately, Eason, the No. 17 pick of the 2022 NBA draft, underwent season-ending leg surgery last month.
“That’s pretty lame,” Warriors guard Klay Thompson said of Eason wearing the trolling T-shirt. “Especially if you’re not even playing. Like it’s one thing if you’re playing, you’re out there competing. But you’re just gonna be trolling from the sideline.
“Bro, what are we doing?”
Houston is running out of time to snipe Golden State’s play-in tournament spot. The Warriors, winners of six straight games, have six contests left in the regular season.
