Chennedy Carter received a standing ovation Tuesday from the Chicago Sky’s hometown crowd following her controversial foul against Caitlin Clark in Saturday’s 71-70 loss to the Fever.
In footage shared on social media by the X user @prettyrickroo, the crowd inside Wintrust Arena could be heard cheering for Carter as she entered the Sky’s game against the Liberty.
The 25-year-old guard finished with 16 points, three rebounds and two assists in the Sky’s 88-75 loss.

Carter said postgame that it “felt good” to have the support of Sky fans.
“It felt good to know that SkyTown supports me, the fans got loud and that ultimately just got me going, it gave me confidence, soon as I came in, they gave me confidence, so I started feeling it, I’m like the crowd’s with you, your team is with you, let’s go,” she said.
Carter has been at the center of headlines and sports media discussions following Saturday’s game, when she hip-checked Clark in the third quarter as the rookie looked for an inbounds pass.

Carter was whistled for the foul, which was upgraded to a Flagrant 1 by the WNBA the following day.
“Yeah, that’s just not a basketball play,” Clark said. “But you know, I’ve gotta play through it, that’s what basketball is about at this level. I thought we’ve been really physical, we’ve missed some bunnies around the rim, so hopefully those fall in the fourth.”
Although Carter refused to answer Clark-centric questions in her postgame press conference Saturday, she addressed the incident two days later in a media session after the Sky’s practice.

“I’m a competitor, and I’m going to compete no matter who you are, and no matter who’s in front of me. So that’s just what it was,” Carter told reporters Monday. “Heat of the moment play. We’re getting at it. We’re getting back and forth. It’s basketball. It’s all hoops. After we finish the game, it’s all love.”
Carter added she doesn’t “have regrets with anything.”
