NCIS alumni Emily Wickersham just showed off her love for the season in a fun new picture. The actress formerly played Ellie Bishop on NCIS, but left the show earlier this year, leaving behind the cast after many years playing the Special Agent. “I [heart] summer,” the caption of her newest Instagram pic says. Everyone in the comments pointed out how pretty the NCIS star is. Her summer is definitely more free than her former co-workers, who are about to be swamped with filming. The actress has plenty of reason to celebrate this summer, however. She just sold her LA home for almost $ 4 million only five days after listing it. No word yet on where she’s moving to next. Ellie Bishop’s ‘NCIS’ Send-Off Was Bittersweet The season finale of NCIS found Ellie Bishop going undercover, leaving the NCIS team behind. Bishop and Torres got to share their first (and probably final) kiss before she left for good. Still, fans had hope that this was just a cliffhanger and Bishop would definitely return. Sadly, that wasn’t the case. Wickersham confirmed the departure of her beloved character in an Instagram post. “This cast, this crew, are top-notch,” Wickersham wrote. “I can’t say enough kind words about this group that I’ve had the pleasure of working with for close to 8 years now and 172 episodes later.” Wickersham also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to have stable work. While acting is lucrative when you get lucky, it’s hard for most actors to find anything close to what Wickersham had on NCIS. “This business is finicky and weird and consistency is a rarity. I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of a show where I got to show up and act and laugh and learn with wonderful people. A moment in time I surely won’t forget. Thank you CBS and NCIS for including me in a part of television history.” The Show Must Go On: What to Know about Season 19 Fans may be sad to see Bishop go, but there’s plenty of show left to make. Unfortunately, however, Wickersham isn’t the only person that considered a departure last year. Jethro Gibbs actor Mark Harmon was reportedly eyeing an exit before CBS convinced him to stay for another year. Sadly, Harmon won’t be a huge part of the seasons, only set to feature in a handful of episodes. To counteract the losses, NCIS has added two new characters to its full-time roster. Jessica Knight, played by Katrina Law, will join the NCIS team for good. Special Agent Alden Park will also become a part of the story. He’ll be played by Gary Cole, but nothing is known about his character. The show’s timeslot is also changing so it can serve as a lead-in to the brand new NCIS: Hawai’i. Season 19 of NCIS is set to premiere on Monday, September 20th at 9 pm.
