Becky Hammon finds herself surrounded in controversy over her recent comments regarding Caitlin Clark.

Aces HC Becky Hammon highlights how ‘black and brown greatness has not been celebrated’ while clarifying her seemingly racist comments on Caitlin Clark

The NBA and WNBA often find themselves surrounded by some sort of controversy, be it something related to the coach, players, or ex-players in the respective leagues. Notably, the Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon is recently surrounded in the headlines due to her controversial comments regarding the Indiana Fever‘s Caitlin Clark.

Hammon and Aces’ star player A’ja Wilson spoke to reporters before their game against the Fever. Hammon out of the Blues claimed that nobody hates Clark and also claimed that there is no ‘black and white discrimination being made, and told the reporter to ‘knock it off.’ However, these comments made by Hammon did not go down well with the WNBA community and ended up being controversial.

In addition, after the Las Vegas Aces and the Indiana Fever match, Hammon was asked to clarify her racial comments made earlier regarding Clark.

It’s construed as some of our minority black and brown women are hating on her because she’s white and that is not the case.

Becky Hammon said in the post-match press conference

Hammon also further claimed that how black and brown greatness has not been celebrated in the sport.

Comments regarding one’s race always tend to end up being controversial, with Hammon facing something similar this time around. It remains to be seen how this story unfolds in the coming weeks.

NBA greats LeBron James and Charles Barkley come to Caitlin Clark’s defense

After being selected as the 1st overall Draft pick by the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark has been dealing with a lot of criticism and hate in the WNBA. Things got worse, as the Fever are on a 1-6 losing run currently and with Clark not performing consistently as of yet. However, NBA greats LeBron James and Charles Barkley chipped in to offer their support to the WNBA rookie.

During TNT’s “Inside the NBA” pregame show, presenter Barkley responded to the criticism against Clark.

You women out there, y’all petty, man.

Charles Barkley said

I’m rooting for Caitlin because I’ve been in that seat before. I’ve walked that road before. I hope she kills.

On the sport side of things, Caitlin Clark has not been at her flying best in the first 7 games of her WNBA career with the Indiana Fever as of yet. However, she led the way in her side’s thrilling victory against the Los Angeles Sparks but failed to do so in her most recent game against the Los Angeles Aces.
