The Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky met in a game on Saturday night and all eyes were on the duo of Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. The two arch-rivals came face to face for the first time this season, but the talking point became surrounding Caitlin Clark.
“The cheap shots on Caitlin Clark are an embarrassment for the WNBA. This player should be suspended.
Clark is the only reason I’m even watching a WNBA game right now. What a joke.— Jake Asman (@JakeAsman) June 1, 2024”
Despite the unsportsmanlike play, the Fever came on top with a 71-70 win. After the game, Angel Reese took to social media to express her gratitude towards the fans and wrote, “i love me some chicago like they show me soooo much love.”
The post soon became a target of basketball fans, who called her out for her behavior following the hard tackle on Caitlin Clark. Here are some of the comments on the X (formerly known as Twitter) thread:
“Caitlin still clears you btw,” wrote a fan.
Another added, “You should seek counseling for your petty jealousy of Caitlyn Clark.”
“The jealousy and hatred is eating you from inside,” sounded off a fan.
Someone advised, “Don’t celebrate your teammate’s cheap shot.”
One angry fan didn’t hesitate to say, “You are a trash women to be honest… no wonder everyone roots for Caitlin Clark and not you…”
Angel Reese even got called a dirty player.
While on the surface, Angel Reese claims she has no beef with CC, but this is the second time in a matter of months that the no.1 draft pick topped her on the court.
Angel Reese Falls to Caitlin Clark Again
There was a buzz surrounding the game between the Sky and Fever. As the two former collegiates clashed on the WNBA court, the script remained the same with Clark coming out on top.
Chennedy Carter led the scoring for the Sky with 19 points on the night, followed by Marina Mabrey’s 15. Reese only managed to get 8 points on the board from 2-9 shooting along with 13 rebounds.
On the other side, Kelsey Mitchell scored a team-high 18 for the Indiana side, with NaLyssa Smith scoring 17 points and 9 rebounds. Caitlin Clark found her rebounding game with 8 clean-ups and 11 points.
Angel Reese was previously attacked by netizens for her supposed dig at Caitlin Clark, which led to Reese’s mother coming in defense of her daughter. But with her antics, the former LSU forward is only making herself unlikable among the fans who in all honesty follow the WNBA, mostly due to the growing popularity of it stemming from Caitlin Clark’s arrival.
