A study conducted by BetOnline.ag has determined the WNBA’s most hated player – and it’s not close.

BetOnline.ag conducted the study by tracking negative sentiment messages toward the top players in the WNBA. They looked for messages like “I hate Caitlin Clark,” “Caitlin Clark is horrible,” “Caitlin Clark is overrated,” etc.

But Clark did not come in at No. 1 on the ranking, despite how the league’s players might be feeling about her. Instead, it was a different rookie.

Chicago Sky rookie forward Angel Reese came in at No. 1 overall on the most “hated” list. It wasn’t particularly close, either.

Reese has nearly two times the amount of hateful messages aimed at her on social media as the next closest player (her teammate, Sky guard Chennedy Carter).

While Reese has taken a lot of heat on social media, she remains proud of herself for how much of an impact she’s had on women’s basketball.

It all started from the (2023) national championship game and I’ve been dealing with this for two years now. Understanding like negative things have probably been said about me, but honestly I’ll take that because look where women’s basketball is,” Reese told reporters this year. “People are talking about women’s basketball, who you’d never think would be talking about women’s basketball. People are pulling up to games, we’ve got celebrities coming to games and sold-out arenas because of one single game.

“Just looking at that, I’ll take that role. I’ll take the bad guy role and I’ll continue to take that on and be that for my teammates. … I’ll look back in 20 years and be like, ‘The reason why we’re watching women’s basketball is not just because of one person. It’s because of me, too.’ I want y’all to realize that.”
